here is a story about the kooche dog in pakistan and it is written by the person who actually was there and i found this story to be very interesting so i tought i want to share it whit u... the writer didnt knew about the kooche before someone mentioned it to him.........so he started to do some research after them,, here is the story.
(note the pics is not connected to this story but they are all taken in pakistan)

**
hi pals..

and after that i started to find some...i was not lucky in the begeninig.....
the point was that i wanted to know abt the standerds....and the only way which i cud find some standerds are from any afghani who own these dogs

then this jully i went to a village in NWFP known as "THALL" my native place...though my family migrated from that place to khi before pakistan came into being..
anyways
i told my cousions living there abt the kochees......i was thinking that they wont know anything abt that breed..but to my surprise they did know abt it...
they told me that afghan khana badosh come to THALL in large numbers after afghanistan despute....
basically "THALL" is very near to afghanistan.....soo those people have dogs and they call them kochees.

everything which they told me about those dogs were the same which i learnt/heard from sum other friends.....and which one of my friend mentioned it before...like these dogs have their teratory...they usually sit on big rocks above the ground soo they can watch and guard that area by watching it....etc etc
i asked them abt the physique....and it was the same as its mentioned....and the fighting skills....
soo i asked my cousion to take me to that area where afghan khana badosh are living...to my surprise he told me that he has a servant who is afghan khana badosh working in his shop...
later he talked to him....but he didnt agreed coz they dont allow outsiders to come to their place especially outsiders who dont belong to that area and who dont know pashto or farsi........
my cousion knew farsii....soo he and my uncle convienced him and told him that he just wanted to know abt the dogs nothing serious....
soo he agreed.....
next day in the morning he took both of us to his place....
i was very desperate to see those creatures......
and then he called something in farsii.....my cousion told me that he is calling his dog....
and then came that huge monstor......he was soooooo cute that i cant mention in words...
he was about 36 inches long....wid very litte fur....
and i was surprised to see his temprament...he was obedient like hell....
i tried to go close to him but he started to get angry....
then that afghani told something to his dog in his language...
and then he told me that now i can touch him....
i was afraid though but i went close to him....
and patted him on his head....and rest of the body....he started to move his tail...
it was lovely....
i even asked him that does he have other dogs then this...and he told me that he has 2 more dogs both are females...
i asked him that can i see them too but he told me that they are not having that good temprament and will attack u...
i remained wid that dog for an hour....
he was hell of a dog...i even asked him abt dog fighting...he told me that he loves his dogs and hates dog fighting...
and told me after that afghan despute that sport is mearly finished...and kochees are kept only for guarding perpose...
he told me that all the male family members go for work in the day time soo thats why they have kept kochees to guards their family when they are away.....
and thats true...coz my cousion told me that no stranger can get pass those area alone
coz the dogs attack them....while looking at their physique i can judge that they can even kill a person easily....
i asked him abt the standerds....he told me that this breed is present in afghanistan for centuries...and there are different colors...mostly white wid brown and white wid black...and different sizes...
he didnt mention the word pure but he said that a good kochee is almost 36 inches long.....
they dont have big ears....and if they do then they cropped their ears.......they think that a dog can generate good guarding instincts when we cropped their ears.....
then i asked him abt the litters....he told me that we breed once in a year....
but he was very strict in selling his dogs....
he said that not every one in his tribe breed these dogs.....
just that some people breed the dogs and give the pups to their other tribesmen....
he told me that he had the whole family of these dogs......his great great grand father kept that dog he bought a pair from iran and from that pair they started to breed......and the dog which you are watching now belongs to a single family....thats the only standerd....
he told me that the dog u r watcing now is just a photocopy of his grandfather.....he was hell of a dog lover...
when i asked him abt the variations which kochees have then
he told me that u can go anywhere in the village...every kochee u will find will be just same as this dog....

6mnths ,45kgs kooche in pakistan

here a 4,5mnths old kooche from kandahar now living in quetta pakistan

coz they are all brother and sisters or cousions
he told me that just like we dont give our girl in marriage out of the family just to keep the bloodline pure...same is the case wid the kochees which we have...
we dont breed the kochee out side his family....
soo that was his soo called standerd....
i think in that was they keep the breed pure...
i even asked him that will he give me a pair in the new litter....but he just simple refused.....
he told me that its our family dog....and its just like a family member.....going wid us for decades....
but we insisted him alot.....i even offered him money.....but he told me that earning a money from selling dog is illegal and HARAAM........(=forbidden)
i asked him abt the food which they eat....
and to my surprise he told me that these dogs dont eat alot....and that they just eat once in two days...he told me that we are poor people we cant give them meat......they eat vegetables and left over food watever is cooked in his house....
i asked him that do u ever feed them wid meat then he told me that when some of our sheeps die we sell the skin and store that meat by drying it in the sunlight.....and feed our dogs that meat uncooked....coz its bad cooking a meat of a sheap who is dead but that happens very rarely....
hearing these comments i was really surprised to see the dogs health...
he was really a heavy bonned dog......i was thinking before that these dogs can eat 5 or 6 kg of meat daily..but that was not the case....
he told me that these dogs can hunt their food within their teratory
but hunting a "geedar" or anything else which come across the village
it seems to me that these dogs are just like wild lions living wid humans....and plus that carrying their wild behaviour wid them by hunting in packs at nights.....just like wild lions doo...

a 12mnths old kooche

living near karachi pakistan.

well folks these dogs do have standerds ....the standerds which we dont know, and afghanis keep those standards pure just like we do....
they have a long story behind them.
